Second LEGO Ideas '90s contest offers franchises a second chance

The second, smaller LEGO Ideas '90s challenge is now well underway and out of 80 submissions so far, they're mostly treading familiar territory.

After it started earlier this month, the second LEGO Ideas '90s IP challenge is starting to fill up, nearly halfway to the total number of projects in the first contest. This current challenge only allows builds of up to 1,000 elements, instead of up to 5,000 but despite this limitation, that hasn't stopped several familiar franchises from reappearing for a second chance at a future LEGO Ideas set.

The likes of X-Files, Men in Black, Futurama, Baywatch and many more are all represented with fan-designed projects in the second challenge and should those not be picked in the first, they've got a decent chance of being picked for the fan vote here based solely on the number of projects for each property submitted so far.

Beyond those familiar franchises, there are some new properties for the LEGO Ideas team to consider ahead of the fan vote, including Rugrats, Babe and The Rocketeer.

Ultimately, it would appear that most of the more-desired properties to enter the LEGO portfolio from the community were submitted in the first challenge and in essence, this smaller one is serving as a second chance for them since there will only be one winner from each.

You can keep track of what properties were pitched for a future set in the bigger contest by clicking here. The winner for the first will be announced on June 2 after the fan vote on February 10. The second contest follows a similar timeline except the fan vote is on March 10. There's still time to enter a build in the smaller challenge, with intake closing on February 7.
