The first year of LEGO Pokémon sets is starting to fill up with an assortment of scales and styles, extending to the growing array of Poké Ball builds.
Through a mix of 18+ and SMART Play sets of various scales, LEGO Pokémon's first models are more varied than you might have expected. In fact, you can truly appreciate the mix of different scales when you look specifically at a defining object from the franchise and how it has been depicted so far.
The LEGO Poké Balls currently come in four sizes, with a few varieties to choose from at one specific scale. The smallest Poké Ball you'll find isn't even a build, but a sticker in 40911 Mini Pokémon Centre. It's unlikely to be topped as the smallest Poké Ball, but still worth a mention.
One size up and you have the many 3x3 Poké Balls found in a few of the different SMART Play sets launching later this summer. This includes one in 72164 Training House with Pikachu. This Poké Ball build is surprisingly versatile, with some removable elements to add details specific to other kinds of Poké Balls, including an Ultra Ball, Great Ball and Master Ball.
72165 Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle includes a Poké Ball model double the size of other SMART Play sets, sharing a design with the 30729 Premier Ball recruitment bag.

The largest LEGO Poké Ball released so far is a small part of the larger 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball, measuring approximately eight studs wide. It's not much larger than that of 72165 Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle, but it is substantially rounder with the option to open.

Only two waves in, LEGO Poké Balls already come in four different sizes, three of which are builds, and with five designs to choose from. Similar to the number of Pokémon covered in the theme so far, the LEGO Group has barely scratched the surface of potential Poké Ball builds, but achieving this goal within the theme's lifespan is much more attainable.
Rumour has it that a likely much larger Poké Ball model is coming later this year, but it remains exactly that for now. Here's a reminder of everything confirmed and rumoured for LEGO Pokémon so far,
