The fan designer behind 21343 Viking Village has revealed what it's like helping make a LEGO Ideas model and more insights from development.
Celebrating the release of the LEGO Ideas set based on their original project, or projects, BrickHammer took to Reddit to offer insight into its development and reveal a touching Easter egg. 21343 Viking Village is available now for £124.99 / $129.99 / €139.99 and we have a review ready to read too.
"Since I had two projects called 'Viking Village' which both made it to 10k supporters we picked and chose elements from both models," shared BrickHammer. "So it is really the best of two models plus tons of creative ideas from the professionals at LEGO. Oh and yes, I am super excited about the printed parts!"
Elements of both submissions can be identified in the final model but overall, its design is more reminiscent of the first Viking Village project, uploaded in 2020. The brighter colour scheme of the final set could be an homage to the latter submission though.
"I am more than okay with the changes," responded BrickHammer when asked about the many changes made to their design. "The final model is so much more refined than my original submissions: I could not be happier!”

It wouldn't be a LEGO Ideas set without some Easter eggs and there's one hidden in plain sight that you may have missed without context. As Brickhammer explains, "I am not in the set but the blacksmith is indeed wielding the mighty BrickHammer: a new exclusively printed mjolnir piece with my initials BH on it."
You can pick up 21343 Viking Village online and in-store now, as well as with its first-ever discount at John Lewis in the UK.
