Scratch that travel itch with John Lewis’s early Black Friday deal on LEGO Architecture 21060 Himeji Castle, which knocks 25% off the price of the Japanese icon.
21060 Himeji Castle is this year’s one and only LEGO Architecture set, arriving on shelves in August for the standard retail price of £139.99. John Lewis has already launched its Black Friday deals, however, slashing 25% off a huge range of sets – including the 2,125-piece Japanese fortress. That brings it down to just £104.99, with free standard delivery and extended returns through January.
Between its turrets, walkways, asymmetrical walls and beautiful cherry blossom trees, 21060 Himeji Castle recreates not only the imposing structure itself, but also a flavour of its surroundings. Building it will conjure up all sorts of memories for those lucky enough to have visited in real life, while you might just get the urge to go if you haven’t already. But you’ll need to act fast to secure one at this price: other sets in the John Lewis sale have already started selling out.

The final model stands an impressive 19cm tall, 32cm wide and 27cm long, making for a commanding presence on any shelf, desk or table. And that’s really the impression you want a castle to create – this isn’t some tiny gatehouse, but a 14th-century fortress that’s not only the largest and most-visited in all of Japan, but was also one of the country’s first UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
That’s a lot of pedigree to pack into a single LEGO set, but it’s fair to say the designers have pulled it off. Grab your copy of 21060 Himeji Castle from John Lewis now for just £104.99, while stocks last.
