LEGO Icons 10326 Natural History Museum needed 'several new parts', though you may struggle to guess the challenging portion of the model.
The LEGO designer video for 10326 Natural History Museum is now available, offering plenty of insight into the latest Modular Buildings Collection set. This includes an explanation of the species of the main exhibit. However, one aspect of the build proved to be a challenge for the design team and you might not have guessed which part.
"One of the main challenges we had with the model was to figure out a way to create a dome that was also hollowed out and could be a living space or an office for a minifigure," explains designer Chris McVeigh."
"That took a bit of work and several new parts to make it happen. But now we have a dome that in addition to having the rear side of it pull off for access, also has a skylight right at the top so that you can see directly down into it and it provides natural light for the curator while he's writing his memoirs."
Identifying these several new parts may be just as much of a challenge, though you can take a closer look in our review. However, should anyone know the specifics of this new set, it's the people who designed it.
