Zombies are for Halloween, but LEGO storage heads are forever

The LEGO Group’s latest storage solution offers the chance to get ghoulish all year round with a zombie-themed hollow minifigure head.

LEGO minifigure storage heads are well-trodden territory at this point, but 5009862 Zombie Storage Head – Small and 5009864 Zombie Storage Head – Large are bringing something fresh to the table for 2025. Specifically, it’s a fresh coat of paint for the form factor we’ve previously seen dressed in skeleton, pumpkin and regular yellow head fatigues, alongside the also-new snowman storage heads.

The LEGO Group sent us the smaller of the two sizes to check out in person, and it’s pretty much business as usual. That means a hollow plastic minifigure head that separates at the visible seam, ready to store your loose LEGO pieces, spooky LEGO minifigures, or even other non-LEGO items (if you own any such things). The LEGO logo on top of the head is a nice touch, too.

It’s still more of a novelty than a practical and efficient storage solution, not least because 5009862 Zombie Storage Head – Small (like all these heads) has a propensity for getting tiny elements trapped in the groove around the base of the interior. Why that even exists, rather than simply being filled in with plastic, is anyone’s guess. It definitely doesn’t serve any real purpose beyond trapping tiny pink umbrellas.

But even for the novelty value alone, this is a nice bit of decorative storage that would also look neat on your LEGO shelf all year round (not just at Halloween), and would be handy for holding any minifigures to which you’d like quick access, for instance. Or you could just use it for handing out sweets to trick-or-treaters this spooky season. The possibilities are endless.

5009862 Zombie Storage Head – Small is available now from LEGO.com for £17.99 / $16.99 / €19.99, and measures 18cm tall and 16cm in diameter. The larger version costs £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 and stands 27cm tall and 24cm in diameter.
