World's largest LEGO Store gets an opening date

Move over Leicester Square, there's a new kid coming to town; we now know when the world's largest LEGO Certified Store will open its doors.

Since 2016, the largest LEGO Store in the world has been in London's Leicester Square. Soon, however, this will no longer be the case, after the LEGO Group announced back in August that a new flagship Australian store in Sydney Arcade, overlooking Pitt Street Mall, will span a massive 900 square metres, overtaking Leicester Sqaure's 805 square metres.

Thanks to an Instagram post from legocertifiedstores_anz, we now know that the new LEGO Certified Store will open on November 11, 2023, with doors opening for the first time at 9:30am. This is almost exactly seven years after LEGO Store Leicester Square opened on November 17, 2016.

Not only will the new retail location be the largest in the world, but it will also include the first LEGO Minifigure Factory in Australia. Visitors will be able to design and create a unique minifigure, as well as pick up the obligatory new store plaque on the day that it opens. There are just under two weeks to go until the new store opens, so time enough to plan a trip to Sydney for its launch if you're able to.
