Who's who in the LEGO Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets?

Who's who in the LEGO Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets?

Three new LEGO Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets have been unveiled, featuring a swathe of characters, many of which are new to the MCU.

From an office building to the most detailed Spider-Man buildable figure to date, the trio of models based on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie include some great new minifigures to collect. Since some of these characters are new to the big screen, there's a lot you need to know, at least about their comic counterparts.

Here's a guide to every minifigure in the LEGO Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets and what you need to know about their characters. Note that this will include brief spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man

Sets: 76346 Spider-Man Hero Figure, 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase, 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

We probably don't need to explain who Peter Parker / Spider-Man is, so we'll provide a reminder of where the character is in the MCU ahead of Brand New Day. Peter Parker has been completely forgotten by world following a last-ditch spell by Doctor Strange to stop reality from falling apart.

This unfortunate fresh start has caused Peter Parker to adapt and make a new suit, featuring a glossy finish that is visible on the LEGO minifigure. This new Spider-Man minifigure comes with amr printing and dual-moulded legs, featuring in all three Brand New Day sets.

Tarantula

Sets: 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase, 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

Tarantula, or Anton Miguel Rodriguez, is making his MCU debut in Brand New Day. He sports a black and red outfit with a full mask. This differs from the comic, which only has a half-mask. Early in his comic narrative, Tarantula wore gloves and boots with retractable blades and spikes. Both the blades and the spikes were coated with drugs that would render his victims unconscious.

These appear to be included in the MCU character's abilities, looking at his LEGO minifigure's accessories. LEGO Tarantula is included in both 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase and 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash.

Tombstone

Sets: 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase

Tombstone is a long-awaited LEGO Marvel minifigure after featuring in many recent Spider-Man projects, from games to animated movies. LEGO Tombstone is exclusive to 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase and sports a sharp-fitting suit. Lonnie Lincoln is making his MCU debut in Brand New Day, but is a mobster in the comics with superhuman strength, reflexes, stamina and durability, as well as grey skin and white hair from his albinism.

DODC guard

Sets: 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase

The Department of Damage Control guard is exclusive to 76349 Spider-Man Prison Transport Chase and is one of the most generic minifigures in the Brand New Day sets. The Department of Damage Control is a department of the US government responsible for cleaning up any damage caused by superpowered individuals.

They made their MCU debut early on, but came into the spotlight as part of Spider-Man: Homecoming. It now seems that the DODC is back in Brand New Day in at least one scene.

Scorpion

Sets: 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

MacDonald Gargan is finally becoming Scorpion in the MCU in Brand New Day, after first featuring in Homecoming as a fairly standard criminal. Now, Gargan is getting the full scorpion suit, presumably with his comic counterpart's poison-tipped tail on his mechanical suit. Whether he will have the superhuman strength from the comic character is also unknown, but we will find out more in Brand New Day.

You can find the new LEGO Scorpion exclusively in 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash, but this is not the character's first minifigure. He has received several based on the comic character.

Hulk

Sets: 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

Also common in LEGO Marvel across the comic and MCU sets is the Hulk. This new version of the bigfig is exclusive to 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash and features new, brown shorts. The Hulk is a monstrous alter ego of Bruce Banner, who was exposed to gamma radiation and granted this ability against his will.

While Bruce Banner has struggled with the Hulk form in the MCU, his most recent appearances have proven that he now has full control over the Hulk. That certainly doesn't seem to be the case in the new LEGO set, suggesting a return to the monstrous Hulk we know and love.

Boomerang

Sets: 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

Boomerang is also making his MCU debut in Brand New Day and can be found exclusively in 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash. The comic counterpart to this character is named Frederick Myers, an ex-professional baseball player with a love of boomerangs who turned down a criminal path and uses his skillset to take on heroes, such as Spider-Man.

Despite what you might think, Boomerang's comic counterpart has been a fierce foe and featured on many villain teams. He has no superhuman abilities, but is similarly skilled to Hawkeye and has technology to bolster his skills.

Hot dog vendor

Sets: 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash

The final exclusive minifigure in 76350 Spider-Man vs. Hulk Epic Clash is the most generic minifigure across the Brand New Day sets. The hot dog vendor is an unnamed character with basic details, but their skin colour and hairstyle resemble MJ from the MCU.

It's not likely to be her, though, since the last Marvel minifigure of the character had a different skin colour, which is more accurate. This minifigure won't be a set-seller, but she is a nice bonus in the most expensive Brand New Day playset.
