Thought you had enough LEGO mechs in your collection? Think again: there are a lot more coming in 2023, and some of them look like must-haves.
The LEGO Group is keeping its foot firmly on the robo-armour pedal in January, with at least 13 different mechs slated to hit shelves next month. Those span themes from Marvel and NINJAGO to Monkie Kid and Avatar, and come in at a range of different sizes and price points. Basically: there’s a LEGO mech for everyone.
Mechs aren’t what you’d call a fresh concept for LEGO, of course, which means the pressure is on the design team to keep us coming back for more year after year. But from the images released so far, it seems they’ve done their job with at least a few of the mechs arriving in 2023. Here’s a rundown of the complete line-up (so far)…
Marvel’s mini mechs
This is the fourth wave of mini mechs from Marvel, and the first to ditch the classic Mixels ball joints in favour of the larger NINJAGO Core elements. It’s also Thanos’s second mech, but the first for Rocket Raccoon, Hulk and Ghost Rider, the latter of whom is bundled in with a larger bike build. He’s still the only minifigure in that £30 set, though, and the price bump from £8.99 to £12.99 for the smaller mechs (while losing detail through those juniorised limbs) stings a bit.
Yet another Hulkbuster

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: the LEGO Group is about to launch a new Hulkbuster. Thankfully,
Monkie Kid, big and small
LEGO Monkie Kid is following in the footsteps of Marvel by offering two mechs at vastly different price points, but neither of them comes anywhere close to those Hulkbusters.
Avatar’s crabsuit mech

A brand new LEGO theme that’s already leaning firmly into mech territory across its first two waves, Avatar is following up October’s AMP Suit with a four-legged machine in
NINJAGO mechs, bike mechs and dragon mechs
Because regular mechs seemingly aren’t enough, NINJAGO is also turning its usual line-up of bikes and dragons into mechs in 2023. 71783 Kai’s Mech Rider EVO pairs a suit using the same frame as the mini Marvel mechs with a bigger bike than Ghost Rider’s, then pads it out with three more minifigures, while 71786 Zane’s Ice Dragon Creature can be rebuilt into an intimidating dragon mech.
