We’re probably never getting official LEGO The Boys sets, but one model did find its way into a recent episode – and you have to imagine the producers picked it deliberately…
Given everything that goes on in the ultraviolent 18-rated show, The Boys is one superhero series the LEGO Group will probably be keeping very much at arms’ length. But the show’s producers are seemingly fans of the brick, as Amazon’s hit series has already referenced LEGO at least once before – and it's now popped up again in Season 4. Spoilers follow for the latest season of The Boys.
In Episode 3 of Season 4, titled ‘We’ll Keep the Red Flag Flying’, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) manages to persuade his stepson Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) to pay him a visit. He initially intends to feed Ryan cookies spiked with an opioid in order to let his CIA buddy deprogram the kid from Homelander’s influence, but reconsiders after a heart-to-heart between stepfather and stepson.
When Ryan first arrives at Butcher’s apartment, though, he turns down the cookies anyway – and Butcher instead tries to tempt Ryan to stay with kid-friendly activities including board games and a LEGO set. They end up playing foosball and the LEGO never comes out, but one eagle-eyed redditor managed to identify the set in question – and it feels like the most appropriate set dressing ever.
It is of course none other than 31129 Majestic Tiger, a Creator 3-in-1 model famed for its anatomically-correct animal. That’s basically the same level of humour we see week in, week out on The Boys, and feels so appropriate for this series that it can’t have happened by accident. Whoever’s responsible for the sets on this show clearly knows their LEGO memes.

Plus, it also feels like a sly throwback to the Season 4 premiere, when Butcher sends a photo of his own anatomy to VP-elect Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit).
