First Superman trailer gives us hope for potential LEGO DC 2025 sets

There’s potential for new LEGO DC sets in 2025, if the first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie is anything to go by.

Recent rumours suggest that the LEGO Group will be revisiting well-trodden territory once again next year, with even more potential Batman builds being added to the LEGO DC line-up. Those include possible returns to both the Batcave and Arkham Asylum, but remain unconfirmed at this stage.

However, we're still keeping our fingers crossed that the LEGO Group will cast its net much wider across the DC universe in 2025, with the first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie giving us hope for future models based on the Man of Steel and his supporting cast.

David Corenswet will be stepping into the Last Son of Krypton’s cape next year, with Gunn stating that a lot of the film was inspired by 2007’s All-Star Superman series, created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. The result looks to be a more colourful, comic book and pop culture version of the character than we've seen in recent DC movies such as Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The teaser trailer not only gives us a glimpse of a new, brightly-coloured Superman just begging to become a minifigure, but also a number of exciting new faces. Those include Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion’s cocky Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan’s Metamorpho and even loyal Krypto.

Many of those characters have yet to be immortalised in LEGO minifigure form, giving the LEGO DC design team plenty of exciting new material to work with. In addition, the Superman trailer adds in a giant monster, an updated Fortress of Solitude, Kryptonian robot Kelex and much more.

With all of that that in mind, the potential for an expanded LEGO DC universe definitely exists, one that could bring much more diversity to the theme than just endless sets based on the Dark Knight.
