First list of rumoured LEGO City summer 2026 sets includes two new trains

Two new trains (or train-adjacent sets) are rumoured to be rolling into the LEGO City line-up in summer 2026, building on a strong couple of years for LEGO train fans.

Between LEGO Ideas, Harry Potter, City, Icons and the BrickLink Designer Program, locomotive lovers have been eating well this past 24 months or so, and it sounds like the LEGO Group is aiming to keep the good times going in 2026. Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat has shared (in a new Story) an initial list of LEGO City sets reportedly on the way next June, split across three subthemes – one of which is trains.

Sets 60506 and 60509 will apparently fall under the Trains subtheme, though whether they will both actually be trains has yet to be reported. All we have to go on at the minute is the link to something train-related, without even prices or piece counts to consider. It’s worth noting that there are currently three LEGO City trains on shelves, and of those only 60198 Cargo Train is due to retire in 2025.

The others – 2022’s 60337 Express Passenger Train (pictured up top) and this summer’s 60470 Explorer Train – are currently scheduled to remain in production until the end of 2026 and 2027 respectively. The latest wave of LEGO City sets has also introduced a new station in 60469 Central Train Station, which is currently slated to retire by December 2026.

The remaining sets in lego_minecraft_goat’s list are split between the Great Vehicles subtheme, which has previously included sets such as 60447 Off-Road 4x4 Mountain Truck and 60452 Donut Truck, and something called ‘My City’. This year’s 60473 The City Tower is apparently also part of that subtheme, though it’s not mentioned anywhere on the packaging – as is next year’s also-rumoured 60502 Airport with Airplane.

At the moment, lego_minecraft_goat suggests there are no fire, police or explorer sets on the table for summer 2026, but given the typical size of LEGO City waves, it's hard to imagine that the current list here is exhaustive. Time will tell on that front...
