Resellers are cashing in on LEGO Fortnite’s Battle Bus for Christmas

LEGO Fortnite 77073 Battle Bus is on extended back order at LEGO.com and sold out in most stores, and resellers are already cashing in for Christmas.

The only LEGO Fortnite set to include minifigures so far is proving hot property for Christmas 2024. At LEGO.com in the UK, 77073 Battle Bus is currently expected to ship by February 21, 2025, while in the US you’re looking at a much vaguer shipping estimate of ‘60 days’. Either way, you’re unlikely to be getting it in time for Christmas by ordering from the official online store.

That’s unfortunate given the entire first wave of LEGO Fortnite sets is (for the moment) exclusive to official channels, so the only other way to get your hands on it at retail is by walking into your local LEGO Store. But even then you may be out of luck: it’s seemingly out of stock at every LEGO Store in the UK, for example (at least according to the online store stock checker).

That leaves only the aftermarket to fill the gap in time for Christmas, and those resellers with their hands on copies are acutely aware of that fact. Over on eBay, 77073 Battle Bus is regularly selling for around £140, and one copy has reached £180 – or double its retail price. Even auctioned sets are attracting high bids: one listing is up to £122 with 24 bids, while another has reached £136 with 12 bids.

Things are even worse on eBay in the US, where the 954-piece set (which includes nine unique minifigures) has sold for up to $250 – or two and a half times its RRP of $99.99. Even BrickLink sellers have noticed the uptick in demand for 77073 Battle Bus, where the cheapest new copy from a UK store at the moment is a hefty £142.49. The cheapest copy from a European seller is £106.64.

It's a classic case of supply and demand at work – the LEGO Group has clearly underestimated (or is unable to serve) the number of parents hoping to buy their kids a LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus for Christmas, and those savvy enough to snap up copies are now cashing in ahead of December 25. But if you’re not prepared to pay over the odds, you could always gamble on a LEGO.com order shipping ahead of current estimates.

Over on reddit, some LEGO fans have reported receiving their back-ordered 77073 Battle Bus sets in the past few days, despite the ‘will ship within 60 days’ message at LEGO.com. The LEGO Group is presumably working through its backlog as quickly as possible – although with only a week and change to go until the big day, chances are growing ever slimmer of it turning up in time.

If you’re based outside the UK, it’s worth using the stock checker tool on the product page for 77073 Battle Bus to see if there’s a local LEGO Store with copies available. Otherwise, your best bet at this point is hoping someone has enough Christmas spirit to sell on their sets for their original retail price – we’ve seen it happen on some Facebook groups, so you never know.
