Don't expect references in LEGO The Lord of the Rings helmet

LEGO The Lord of the Rings 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet isn't as packed with Easter eggs as other Middle-earth models.

11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet was revealed earlier today, featuring 538 pieces for £64.99 in the UK, $69.99 in the US, and €74.99 in Europe. It joins 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr and 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook as the most recent era of LEGO The Lord of the Rings. Unlike the other modern-day Middle-earth models, don't expect to find any Easter eggs in this build.

10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell features an Easter egg in the build in the form of the Eye of Sauron underneath the Council of Elrond. 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr's references include the reveal that Sauron is a LEGO fan and has the set's corresponding gift-with-purchase on a shelf. Even 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook has a small Easter egg to the valuable Mithril found within the Mines of Moria.

As designer Jae Won Lee explained at LEGO Fan Media Days 2025, there's just not enough space in 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet for any kind of reference.

"Because of the structure, we cannot have any special Easter eggs inside."

Jae Won Lee explained further back in the presentation that the structure of 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet is partially borrowed from other helmet sets, further limiting any reference potential.

"The display stand is the same structure as the other Star Wars helmets, but this helmet is made up of a lot of different parts and different panels on the side. So we just changed a lot of the structure inside, and then we put all of them together and combined the right connections with the angles. We cannot detach the helmet from the stand, but it is quite stable."

One look at the instructions for any LEGO Star Wars helmet, and you'll see that the space inside is limited, considering the various angles that need to be achieved to make the model both structurally sound and accurate. Unfortunately, the helmet approach means no The Lord of the Rings Easter eggs this time. There's at least the bonus Sauron minifigure, which may be the same as that of the much more expensive 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr.

LEGO Icons 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet is available to pre-order now ahead of its release on March 1, retailing at £64.99 / $69.99 / €74.99. Don't forget orders of £135 / $150 / €150, including pre-orders, will also receive a free 40915 Lion Dance.
