The LEGO up-scaled minifigure collection is growing again in March, so here are our rankings of every character in the line-up to date.
40921 Up-Scaled Blue Astronaut Minifigure hits shelves on March 1 for £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, bringing probably the most-requested minifigure to date to this burgeoning collection. But now that we’ve had chance to go hands-on with the 793-piece set, where does it rank among the rest of the LEGO Group’s up-scaled minifigures? Find out below and let us know if you agree in the comments.
7 – 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure
Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 694 Release date: March 1, 2025

Given how similar most of the sets on this list are in scope and approach, there’s not a tremendous amount separating them – and it’s fair to say that they’re all at least pretty good. But 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure comes in bottom of the pile mostly thanks to the generally uninteresting subject matter, ostensibly chosen to tie in with the year of Formula 1 in 2025 but not nearly as iconic as other characters on this list.
6 – 76393 Harry Potter & Hermione Granger
Price: £114.99 / $119.99 / €129.99 Pieces: 1,673 Release date: June 1, 2021

The duo that started it all back in 2021, 76393 Harry Potter & Hermione Granger may in hindsight seem an odd choice for the inaugural 6x-scale LEGO minifigures, but they’re also largely reflective of a theme that continues to innovate year on year. There’s something about the printed faces here that for whatever reason feels a little less convincing, while their outfits are unavoidably dull, but they get bonus points for the status of their characters and their hair, which as per BrickHeadz statues goes a long way to adding interest and variety.
5 – 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure
Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 654 Release date: June 1, 2023

Okay, fair’s fair, the LEGO up-scaled minifigures don’t come much plainer than this. But there’s a real appeal to the classic nature of 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure (the first non-licensed variant in the series widely available to everyone) that places it a notch higher on this list than its racing counterpart or Harry and Hermione. It’s also the only set here to include a corresponding regular minifigure.
4 – 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut
GWP threshold: Free with orders above £135 / $150 / €150 Pieces: 250 Release date: May 15, 2025

It’s worth pointing out at this stage that assembling the complete collection of up-scaled minifigures is no mean feat, starting with the fact that 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut was a limited-edition gift-with-purchase only available with qualifying orders at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores in 2025. That means you’ll need to head to the aftermarket to get it now, but it’s well worth doing so for two reasons: it’s a very different entry in this range, scaling up a baby minifigure rather than a regular minifigure; and it’s cute as buttons.
3 – 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure
Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 761 Release date: October 1, 2025

Most of these minifigures will happily sit on your shelf year-round, but 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure is one you’re probably only going to want to pull out for December. That doesn’t take away from just how well it captures the classic Santa LEGO minifigure, though, nor the detail and interest added to the build by St. Nick’s hat and beard. It loses a couple of points for the poor white-on-red printing and the belt not extending to the edges of his waist, but otherwise this is one well worth targeting for Xmas.
2 – 40921 Up-Scaled Blue Astronaut Minifigure
Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 793 Release date: March 1, 2026

The latest addition to the range comes right in at second place, and to quote Buzz Aldrin, second comes right after first. The prestige of a silver medal rightly belongs to 40921 Up-Scaled Blue Astronaut Minifigure, which cuts through the dull uniformity of its colour scheme to serve up an interesting and improved take on this format, from the helmet and air tanks to the way the hips are now attached using Technic click hinges rather than ball joints. It’s probably also the most iconic character on this list for fans of a certain vintage.
1 – 40504 A Minifigure Tribute
Price: 599 DKK Pieces: 1,041 Release date: March 1, 2023

Remember when we said collecting every set on this list was going to be tricky? The real treasure of the 6x-scale LEGO minifigures is undoubtedly Captain Redbeard, who’s available exclusively at the LEGO House in Billund in 40504 A Minifigure Tribute. He was the first character in the range after Harry and Hermione, and between his jacket, epaulettes, hat and hook-hand is easily the most interesting minifigure of them all in terms of both aesthetics and building experience. You’ll just need to hop on a flight or cough up serious booty on the aftermarket to plunder your own…
