Plotting the path to LEGO Minas Tirith: teasers, games and more

From in-game to Easter eggs to an 8,000-piece set

Plotting the path to LEGO Minas Tirith: teasers, games and more

LEGO Minas Tirith has been teased for a long time, finally resulting in an 8,000-piece set next month, and the journey of the model goes back 14 years.

It's finally time for a proper LEGO tribute to Minas Tirith in 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith, which will be launched on June 1, 2026, early for LEGO Insiders or June 4 widely. The 8,278-piece model will cost £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99 and has been a long time coming.

You may not realise just how long we have been waiting for a proper physical LEGO Minas Tirith. The journey of LEGO Minas Tirith only has a few key points, but dates back 14 years, with an initial appearance that coincidentally foreshadowed its 2026 scale.

2012: Video game debut with a familiar scale

LEGO Minas Tirith first appeared in the LEGO The Lord of the Rings video game as the subject of a level and an area in the free-roam open world.

Given the staggering scale of Minas Tirith as it appears in the films, TT Games weren't able to capture the precise size of the location without it being overwhelming. The team opted to scale it down to still be compatible with minifigures and maintain that sense of awe.

It's similar to what the LEGO designers have done with 11377, The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith. The set depicts the exterior of the fortress in microscale, but still allows for minifigures to be placed up top, but at a giant size.

As the first appearance of Minas Tirith in a LEGO product, it's coincidentally perfect that the first and most recent Minas Tiriths embrace this specific strategy.

2023: A Rivendell Easter egg

Fast forward seven years, and Minas Tirith suddenly reappeared in a single sticker for the first LEGO The Lord of the Rings set since the original theme's end. 10315 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell features a small tribute to the city on a stickered map.

That map marked the first tease of 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith, whether intentional or not, as well as a genuine teaser for the yet-to-come 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dur.

As our first physical representation of Minas Tirith in LEGO form, a sticker didn't quite cut it. Fans were left waiting for something more. Unfortunately, the waiting would continue for a bit longer.

2024: The teases continue

2024's massive The Lord of the Rings set brought Barad-dur to life for the first time, also using a map to tease Minas Tirith in sticker form. Since Barad-dur had been teased previously in a map, it offered fans some hope for an eventual LEGO Minas Tirith model

Instead, the next LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets to come to shelves would be a Sauron helmet, a Balrog book nook and 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire. Enthusiasts' patience would eventually be rewarded, though.

2026: A proper set, at last

14 years after the first digital LEGO Minas Tirith appearance and the massive set we've been dreaming of is finally coming to shelves next month. 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is the biggest model based on the franchise so far, with several exclusive minifigures.

It blends minifigure scale and microscale areas to best depict the castle without creating something that would have been truly unaffordable. That means it also pays tribute to the first LEGO Minas Tirith, intentional or not.

11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith will be released at long last on June 1 for LEGO Insiders or June 4 widely for £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99. It comes with a free 40893 The Lord of the Rings: Grond until June 7 or while stocks last, too.
