Perfect timing lands The Ornate Hourglass in the LEGO Ideas review

The clock is ticking for The Ornate Hourglass to become a physical set as the fan-made model enters the first LEGO Ideas review of 2026.

There’s still plenty of time for fan designers to add their creations to the first LEGO Ideas review of 2026, with the deadline for all 10K submissions to make it under the wire being May 4. Having said that, there are already more than 50 different models battling it out for supremacy at the time of this writing, with one more build achieving the required level of support today.

The Ornate Hourglass was conceived and assembled by Noble Studs and is a brick-built version of similar classic timepieces. The model is intended to be a fully functional set that uses our old friend gravity to allow 1x1 studs to drop through from the top of the build to the bottom, marking the passage of time.

As with real vintage decorations, The Ornate Hourglass can then be picked up and turned over, which will start the whole process all over again. One image of the LEGO Ideas submission reveals its internal structure, how the central transparent funnel works and just how steadily constructed the build is.

The Ornate Hourglass joins the rest of the ever-growing line-up of fan designs currently sitting in the first LEGO Ideas review of 2026. We’ll finally find out which of those many models have been successful in their endeavours later this year.
