New LEGO F1 helmets are missing something small

The two new LEGO F1 helmet sets revealed last week are missing something small, but a decent replacement isn't hard to find.

43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet and 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet offer something new for the LEGO Formula 1 collection by adding real helmets to the growing range and depicting actual drivers as minifigures for the first time. They're full of new pieces and prints, especially in those exclusive minifigures, but the figures are missing something that would have been practically perfect, though more challenging to achieve.

The two minifigures in these new F1 helmets are missing minifigure-scale versions of the helmets they're recreating. You can get approximate versions of the drivers' cars in 77242 Ferrari SF-24 F1 Race Car, but they'll still be missing miniature recreations of their helmets for the minifigures.

The LEGO Group evidently has no problem with depicting these helmets in their range, since they are the main subject of each set, and other real driver minifigures have received specialised printed helmets before. Despite all of this, LEGO Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc come with no helmet.

It's not too challenging to find decent replacements for their real helmets in other LEGO sets, though. Leclerc's white and red helmet might have been difficult to recreate using the newer Formula 1 helmet element, but you can at least find two red and white options in the 71049 F1 Collectible Race Cars series.

You'll need either the Red Bull or Ferrari cars, depending on how much of the helmet you want to be red or white. These are now retired, though can be picked up for around £4 each on BrickLink. Another option that is currently available would be the red helmet with the Ferrari logo from 77242 Ferrari SF-24 F1 Race Car – a set that you'll probably want to pick up for the minifigures anyway.

Lewis' helmet is much more difficult to find a replacement for, but not impossible. The LEGO Group has not yet released any yellow version of the newer helmet piece, but there are options in this colour for the older helmet element.

An unprinted version of the classic yellow helmet can currently be yours in 76312 The Hulk Truck vs. Thanos, or a printed version can be found in 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna. The latter will have an inaccurate design, but it is an option.

Add a transparent red visor to either option, and you have a complete stand-in for Lewis' helmet for the new minifigure. You can find this piece on Pick a Brick for £0.06, but it is out of stock at the time of writing. Ordering it alone would incur a service fee, so it might be better to add it to your next big parts order.

With these helmets, you have multiple options for displaying the new minifigures in 43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet and 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet. Both are available to pre-order now for £79.99 in the UK, $89.99 in the US, and from €89.99 in Europe ahead of their launch on May 1, 2026.
