Most interesting for LEGO Technic fans here is the first mention of set 42215, which is said to drop in August with 2,359 pieces for €399.99. That price-to-piece ratio places it squarely in CONTROL+ territory, with motors and electronics likely pushing up the price in the same way as (for example) 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000. There’s no word from StoneWars yet on what 42215 could be – but some sources are suggesting it’s a new excavator.

Instagram user itavix_brix specifically reports it will be 42215 Volvo EC500 Hybrid, but given they’re not a primary source of rumours, the best course of action here is waiting for a more reliable source to corroborate that claim (at least until the LEGO Group officially reveals its summer 2025 slate). We’ve had plenty of excavators under the Technic umbrella in years past, and in fact we’ve already had one at this price point in 2019’s 42100 Liebherr R 9800.
Whether or not that flagship LEGO Technic 2025 set is an excavator, it’s shaping up to be one of two potential Powered Up sets launching this summer, as the equally-mysterious 42214 also has a price-per-piece ratio that points to functionality at 1,135 elements for $179.99. Chances are good, meanwhile, that 42213 will be another mid-range car joining the already-rumoured 42212 Ferrari FXX K – but we’re just spit-balling here given their similar price-per-piece ratios.
