After seeing The Mandalorian and Grogu in cinemas last week, it has altered my plans for which LEGO sets from the movie I will buy.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie and its playful tone even if it lacked the high stakes and wider Star Wars connections I would have liked to see. I was holding off on buying any sets from the movie before seeing it on screen.
However, after watching this first Star Wars movie in seven years on opening night, I know for certain which sets I will and will not be picking up right now.
40856 The Mandalorian and Grogu: Allies & Villains
Price: £34.99 / $39.99 / $39.99 Release date: April 26, 2026 Pieces: 661 Verdict: Skip

The BrickHeadz versions of these five characters are not something I will be picking up, largely due to the character selection.
While Mandalorian, Grogu, and the Anzellan are welcome inclusions, the Imperial Remnant Snowtrooper and Colonel Ward don’t really appeal to me. If those two were swapped for Rotta the Hutt and Zeb, this would be an easy must-buy.
75444 AT-RT Attack
Price: £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99 Release date: April 26, 2026 Pieces: 297 Verdict: Wait

This is a set I will likely pick up eventually, but not at full price. The opening scene it recreates is great, especially Mando and Grogu taking out an Imperial Remnant AT-ATs while on the AT-RT, but £39.99 still feels steep. I’ll wait for a discount before committing.
75445 Anzellan Starship
Price: £64.99 / $74.99 / €74.99 Release date: April 26, 2026 Pieces: 701 Verdict: Must-buy

Before the film, I didn’t feel I needed this set as I already owned an Anzellan minifigure from 75418 Advent Calendar 2025. After watching the movie, that completely changed and it’s now a must-buy.
The Anzellans ended up being one of my favourite parts of the entire film. I’ve had ‘come on, baby’ and ‘big pipe, huh’ stuck in my head since, making this a definite buy.
75446 Grogu (Mandalorian Apprentice)
Price: £119.99 / $129.99 / €129.99 Release date: April 26, 2026 Pieces: 1,200 Verdict: Pass

I won’t be picking up 75446 Grogu (Mandalorian Apprentice) after seeing the film. The Mandalorian armour detail also feels awkward and doesn’t quite work for me, and as I already own 75403 Grogu with Hover Pram, I’m not convinced this version is enough of an upgrade.
Even if you don’t own the version with a pram, I would still recommend that model over this one.
75447 The Razor Crest
Price: £139.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 Release date: April 26, 2026 Pieces: 930 Verdict: Wishlist

This set tempted me most before seeing the film, but I’ll now wait for a price drop. Zeb is a standout minifigure, but the smaller scale compared to 75292 The Razor Crest makes the price harder to justify.
If Rotta the Hutt had been included, especially if he was a new, moulded character, it would have been an instant buy.
75451 Hutt Palace Sentry Droid Showdown
Price: £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 Release date: August 1, 2026 Pieces: 415 Verdict: Day one (reluctantly)

When watching this scene, the first thing I thought was ‘there are two in the fight, but we only got one in the set’. There is no reason this set only includes one sentry droid, and I would argue it includes the worse-looking one too.
However, it does come with Embo and his anooba. The set is on the pricier side, but due to wanting to own Embo, I think it is a set I will be picking up on August 1.
75460 New Republic X-wing Starfighter
Price: £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 Release date: April 1, 2026 Pieces: 558 Verdict: Must-buy

This was my favourite set from the wave before seeing the film, and afterwards it still feels like a must-buy.
The colour scheme, Carson Teva minifigure, and its connection to the final battle on Nal Hutta all make it stand out. Getting Colonel Ward in flight gear is also a nice bonus.
