LEGO The Simpsons has the perfect excuse for a 2027 model

A second The Simpsons movie has just been announced, giving the LEGO Group the perfect opportunity to continue the theme in a couple of years.

LEGO The Simpsons returned earlier this year through 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger, but the return of the partnership lacked a new minifigure series similar to those that accompanied both 71006 The Simpsons House and 71016 The Kwik-E-Mart in 2014 and 2015.

As mentioned in our review of 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger, the comeback of this theme seven years after its last appearance is welcome, but it arguably tries to do too much with too little budget. The 2025 instalment of LEGO The Simpsons also only offered three new characters, and a minifigure series might have helped to fill the gap.

Thankfully, the LEGO Group's partnership with The Simpsons puts them in the perfect spot ahead of the recently announced The Simpsons movie sequel. As the opening of 19th season forecasted, another The Simpsons movie is on the way on July 23, 2027. This will be nearly 20 years after the original film.

With 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger currently scheduled to retire at the end of 2028, the LEGO The Simpsons partnership is planned to still be underway when this movie releases. This date is subject to change, but for now, the LEGO Krusty Burger will be on shelves when the new movie is on the big screen. While no further LEGO The Simpsons models have been confirmed, it would be a smart move to have something new on shelves to tie in with the film.

Whether that means LEGO The Simpsons Movie 2 sets, or another iconic animated building model, it also offers the LEGO Group an opportunity to continue The Simpsons minifigure series in 2027, using the sequel to help promote the minifigures. This is only speculation (and a pinch of wishful thinking) on our part, but the LEGO Group are, without a doubt, in a good position following this film announcement.

Nothing else for LEGO The Simpsons is confirmed at the time of writing. You can at least celebrate the announcement of the sequel and its arrival 20 years later by picking up 10352 The Simpsons: Krusty Burger now for £179.99 / $209.99 / €199.99.
