LEGO The Legend of Zelda set's days are numbered before movie

A release date for The Legend of Zelda movie has been announced, and it spells bad news for the only LEGO The Legend of Zelda set.

After the initial announcement in 2023, the Sony Pictures The Legend of Zelda live-action adaptation is now confirmed, via the official Nintendo Today app, to be released on March 26, 2027. That's two years away from the time of writing and just under eight months after the only LEGO The Legend of Zelda set is currently scheduled to retire.

The current retirement date for 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is July 31, 2026, and while the first and only LEGO The Legend of Zelda set may see that date pushed back or brought forward between now and July 2026, it still leaves the LEGO Group in an unfortunate position ahead of the movie's 2027 release.

The arrival of the live-action film in 2027 will be a great opportunity for the LEGO Group to market the franchise's only LEGO set while the series is in the minds of audiences worldwide.

That's only going to be true if 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is still available for sale, though. Following this announcement, you'll want to keep an eye on our monthly updates to the list of every retiring LEGO set to see whether the only LEGO The Legend of Zelda set receives a sudden burst of life before July 2026.

Alternatively, the LEGO Group could opt to release a second LEGO The Legend of Zelda set in time for the 2027 movie release, keeping it on shelves for longer as a result. That's only speculation on our part and right now, 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is your one and only model based on the iconic game franchise.
