Pick up LEGO Super Mario’s cheapest 18+ set for even less in the latest John Lewis LEGO sale, which sees 71426 Piranha Plant chomp down on a tempting discount.
Whether you’re after an unorthodox addition to your LEGO Botanical Collection or just want another Nintendo icon to sit next to Bowser and the Question Mark Block, 71426 Piranha Plant is a perfect execution of the Super Mario adversary that’s given us all some grief at one point or another. Who among us hasn’t been robbed of first place in Mario Kart 8 by a chomping Piranha Plant power-up?
The good news is you can now work through that trauma without breaking the bank, as the most affordable LEGO Super Mario display set is now even cheaper at John Lewis. 71426 Piranha Plant usually retails for £57.99, which feels a touch too high for its 540 pieces, but is currently available for only £46.39 – a much more palatable price.

It works out to 20% off the 2023 set, which stands 23cm tall when complete. And while it doesn’t interact with the digital Mario, Luigi and Peach figures, it does still have a little functionality thanks to its Super Mario coins, which can be stashed away in its pot in a sort of money bank setup. You probably aren’t buying this for its playability, anyway: it just looks really cool.
And what more could you want from a LEGO Super Mario display set? It’s a refreshing change of pace from the theme’s playable course-builders, which are very much not built for display, and you’ll find little to fault in the execution of 71426 Piranha Plant. The only real sticking point is its price… and John Lewis has tackled that issue for us. Click through to snap up your copy while stocks last.
