LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures out now on DVD

The first LEGO Star Wars animated TV series, The Freemaker Adventures, is available to buy now on DVD. Priced at just £6.99 by Amazon for the first season, comprising 13 episodes, the set certainly packs some value. The series follows the story of the Freemaker family, as Rowan discovers his connection to the Force while his siblings continue to try and make their way in the universe. While those on the dark side seek out the mythical original lightsaber, it becomes a race against time to see who can track down the Kyber Crystals first.   Show runners Bill Motz and Bob Roth spoke to Blocks magazine about the collaboration between Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group.

Bob: One of the challenges of the show is that with the exception of maybe Jek’s ship from The Yoda Chronicles there hasn’t been a lot of content generated from the LEGO Star Wars universe. That became a discussion of how do we do that and we eventually hit upon we should have Lucasfilm design these things –

Bill: — as human characters, then let LEGO designers interpret them. So Doug Chiang did these beautiful drawings, they were great showing kind of an idea of their attitude and who they are and their costume, an impression and then –

Bob: — once you had that version of them as a real flesh and blood person, it was easy to look at the minifigures and go, ‘yeah that’s it’.

Unfortunately this is another home release that is not getting a Blu-ray in the UK, so hi-def fans will need to look at importing from the USA – Disney Blu-ray releases are typically region free.
