One LEGO Star Wars AT-AT minifigure detail has fans talking

It's not often a minifigure is more accurate than expected

One LEGO Star Wars AT-AT minifigure detail has fans talking

The LEGO Group’s latest rendition of a LEGO Star Wars AT-AT has received widespread praise since its announcement, but one minifigure detail stands out for an unexpected reason.

LEGO Star Wars 75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT with INT-4 depicts the iconic vehicle as it appears in the opening scene of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The 1,435-piece set includes seven minifigures: The Mandalorian and Grogu, an Imperial Remnant Warlord, a superb AT-AT Driver, a regular Snowtrooper, and two brand-new Imperial Remnant Snowtroopers.

It is these last two minifigures in particular that have caused a stir, largely because of their new helmet piece.

In a YouTube Short released by Star Wars Kids days before the full movie hit cinemas, LEGO Star Wars 75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT with INT-4 and its minifigures appeared a full week before the set was officially announced.

However, the animation depicted the Imperial Remnant Snowtroopers inaccurately, giving them helmets with oversized eye coverings that looked far larger than those seen on screen.

That design left some fans concerned about what it might mean if the characters ever appeared in a full LEGO Star Wars set, particularly given how frustrating an inaccurate minifigure can be.

Thankfully, the finished set gets it right. The eye sockets match their on-screen appearance, rather than the oversized version shown in the animated short. While the LEGO Group has not explained the discrepancy, the final minifigures are screen accurate.

Instead of using the dual-moulded helmet seen in the video, which made the eye coverings appear much larger, the set uses a helmet with printed eye sockets that better reflect the characters' appearance in the film.

From a continuity standpoint, this is an outstanding detail. The eye design matches the included Snowtrooper perfectly, reinforcing the idea that an Imperial Remnant Snowtrooper is essentially a regular Snowtrooper without the lower-face covering.

This small but important detail is one reason fans have reacted so positively to this new, reasonably priced AT-AT.

LEGO Star Wars 75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT with INT-4 is available to pre-order now from LEGO.com for £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99 ahead of its August 1 release date.
