The first LEGO Star Trek set isn't quite the first buildable Enterprise D, and we can now see how the LEGO model stacks up next to the rest.
We're just a couple of weeks away from the release of
BlueBrixx released several Enterprise D models in various sizes, but we're focusing on just the biggest version for the sake of the comparison. We're also only looking at models of the Enterprise D specifically, though there have been many other Star Trek construction toys.

The new LEGO
The increased piece count and price in the LEGO set come with a higher level of detail than that of Bluebrixx or Mega Bloks, but the others are equally displayable.
As much as the LEGO model comes with an angled display stand and plaque, the BlueBrixx USS Enterprise 1701-D has a static display stand and a plaque. You may be able to spot an additional transparent element holding up the saucer in the BlueBrixx set, too. The Mega Bloks build then has its own, more ergonomic plaque as well as one for its Picard figure.
Figures are where
Then we come to the box design for the three models. The LEGO Group's box fully embraces the black design that has become standard for adult-aimed sets, with a hint of space behind the shape of the Enterprise D. BlueBrixx's box is much more vivid, and the Mega Bloks box, though much older, is similarly colourful and eye-catching.
While the better box design will come down to personal preference, it's interesting to see how different companies approach this important step in marketing their products.
It's also intriguing to see that while Mega Bloks and BlueBrixx opt to display the Enterprise D from a top-down view, the LEGO Group has angled their build in the opposite direction, showcasing the underneath of the saucer. This may be to show off the complete level of detail in their set, compared to other models. Both the Mega Bloks and BlueBrixx builds were much more bare underneath.
Of course, they were also less expensive, and it's important to keep the price points in made when comparing these three builds. Whichever you prefer, only the LEGO Group's model is widely accessible right now, or at least it will be in a couple of weeks.
LEGO Icons 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D will be available to buy from November 28, 2025, retailing at £349.99 in the UK, $399.99 in the US, and from €379.99 in Europe. 40768 Type-15 Shuttlepod will be available exclusively with the purchase of the set from November 28 to December 1, or while stocks last.
