LEGO Toy Story is finally bringing us a Slinky Dog figure next month, and his two-piece design is compatible with another LEGO pooch – for better and worse.
43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends includes the first-ever Slinky Dog figure alongside the giant brick-built version, and the pole that allows Slinky’s head to slot on to his body is the same connection point previously seen on the official LEGO Scooby Doo minifigure. You can guess where this is going.
YouTuber just2good (or Sarah) has her hands on Slinky Dog ahead of the set’s release next month, and has already done the first thing we’d obviously all do with these two characters in hand: swapped their heads around. Scooby’s head on Slink’s body is… alarming? Terrifying? Unnerving? Sarah calls it ‘cursed’, and maybe that sums it up.
If Scooby Dog is the stuff of nightmares, Slinky Doo is surprisingly effective: the head scales well with Scoob’s regular pooch body and this combo could really just pass for a regular dog. It’s potentially quite an expensive custom figure, mind you – Slinky Dog’s figure will be exclusive to 43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends, which will retail for £139.99 / $149.99 / €149.99, so chances are it’ll be costly on the aftermarket.
But hey, if you do have a spare Scooby Doo lying around and are planning to pick this LEGO Disney set up next month, at least now you can embrace your inner Sid and mash them up as you like.
