The next addition to the LEGO Modular Buildings Collection was revealed this week to a mixed response from the wider fan community.
We had our first look this week at 11371 Shopping Street, a 3,456-piece LEGO Icons set that will be joining the Modular Buildings Collection on January 1. With a distinctive footprint, an appearance inspired by historic European architecture and a selection of seven minifigures, the upcoming model has certainly proven to be a polarising choice with some fans of the theme.
“I might get this if it goes under $190,” posted TobytheRam on Reddit, “but it's probably the worst looking of the past several years. Others have stated it, but it does feel like a worse cobble of two other modulars. It's quite strange to see what feels like a repeat too, as Assembly Square was the shopping area. I wouldn't mind redos of certain buildings, but it would be better if they started with older ones like the Firehouse or Town Hall, since both are outrageously expensive.”

“This set just feels pointless to me,” replied fellow Redditor, LordFbr. “We already have a music instrument shop, the small apartment doesn't add anything new and even if there's anyone out there who really cared for the addition of a furniture shop, this is tiny and will barely fit anything.
“Exterior-wise it also feels too similar to other sets we've already had, like Boutique Hotel. I really don't understand why this exists instead of something that's needed in the city (and that's highly-requested) like a hospital, post office, some kind of school or university, or some fun ideas like an arcade. This just feels like it adds nothing new.”
The fan response to 11371 Shopping Street hasn’t all been negative though, with some in the community genuinely excited to get their hands on the next LEGO Modular Buildings Collection release when it arrives next month.

“I love the height variation, city skylines should have different heights and shapes,” posted miljakopsi on Instagram. “And this could be integrated into the bigger square as well.”
“Love it and for sure a day 1 buy for me,” said Andr3wRuns on Reddit. “but it’s interesting that this seems to be made specifically to be [placed] inbetween other modulars. I thought for sure you’d put a building to the right of this one when looking at it, since there’s nothing on that wall (no window, no pipes, no plants, etc.) but then in the pics they show it in line with modulars on the left! So both sides of this modular are just blank walls? That’s interesting...”
You’ll be able to check out 11371 Shopping Street for yourself when the set launches for Insiders first on January 1, 2026. It will be accompanied by 40913 Vintage Parade Car, a free GWP with all purchases of £180 / $200 / €200 and over between January 1 and 11 (while stocks last). The LEGO Icons model will then receive a wider release from January 4, with the set priced at £229.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe.
