A LEGO Icons set based on Project Hail Mary is coming this March, just in time for Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s adaptation of Andy Weir’s sci-fi novel to hit the silver screen.
11389 Project Hail Mary serves up an 830-piece microscale rendition of the story’s eponymous spacecraft, along with a minifigure of Ryland Grace (played by Ryan Gosling in the movie) and a buildable Rocky figure. In doing so, it gives away one of the (several) twists in the novel, but hey, the film’s trailer did the same thing.

UK: £99.99 US: $99.99 Europe: €99.99 Australia: $179.99 Canada: $129.99
Pieces: 830 Minifigures: 1 Release date: March 1, 2026
This isn’t the first time the LEGO Group has used the Icons badge to deliver a one-off set based on a sci-fi movie, although it’s much more timely than 2024’s 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter. 11389 Project Hail Mary arrives on shelves March 1, while the corresponding movie opens in cinemas around the world on March 20.
The bulk of the set focuses on the interstellar Project Hail Mary spacecraft, complete with its centrifugal gravity system, and there’s a small play feature that allows the crew module to head off into orbit with the turn of a crank. It’s mostly geared around display, though, and in that respect won’t require too much shelf space: the finished model comes in at 30cm tall and 22cm wide.
Ryland Grace and Rocky are each displayed on separate bases that can connect to the ship’s display stand at angles, or connect to one another with an approximation of the xenonite wall between them (created using a 5x6 trans-clear hexagonal flag with either a sticker or a print). Other pieces of interest include at least 40 drum-lacquered silver 1x2 grille slopes, printed tile accessories for both characters and a printed dish for Rocky’s head.

What is Project Hail Mary?
Wondering what this Project Hail Mary business is all about? Nobody could blame you, because unlike other new (to LEGO) IPs either confirmed or rumoured for 2026 – such as KPop Demon Hunters and Shrek – this LEGO Icons set is based on a movie that isn't even out yet, and therefore its only opportunity to seep into the mass cultural consciousness has been through the 2021 novel by Andy Weir.
The book focuses on science teacher Ryland Grace (played by Ryan Gosling in the film adaptation), who wakes up on board a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory gradually returns, his mission is revealed: to stop the sun from dying and save mankind. To say much more would be to spoil a genuinely compelling story, so check it out if you haven't already – or go see the movie when it lands in cinemas on March 20.
You can pre-order 11389 Project Hail Mary right now, ahead of its release date on March 1, 2026. Look out for our review before then.
