The LEGO Group has revealed its plans to place more than 40,000 solar panels on the roof of its Virginia facility in a push to power it renewably.
The LEGO Group has confirmed plans to install a solar park at its manufacturing facility in Virginia, part of the company's goal to power the site using only renewable sources. Construction on the Chesterfield site will begin this summer, with the goal of installing 30,700 ground panels across 80 acres and 10,080 rooftop panels on top of its buildings.
“We’re proud of the progress we continue to make," said Jesus Ibañez, General Manager of LEGO Manufacturing Virginia. "These initiatives are key to increasing our use of renewable energy and support our ongoing commitment towards more sustainable operations."

Construction is still ongoing and on schedule for the rest of the factory’s buildings and structures. The use of mass timber, a renewable resource that sequesters carbon rather than releasing it, is also part of the LEGO Group's aims to make the site a sustainable facility by minimising energy consumption and the use of non-renewable materials.
This comes after the LEGO Group ramped up the installation of solar panels around the world in 2025. A smaller solar panel park was also opened at the company's headquarters in Billund back in 2023.
