LEGO NINJAGO's anniversary minifigures have been teased, but one of the best parts of the reveal has nothing to do with the mystery minifigures.
In celebration of LEGO NINJAGO’s 15th anniversary next year, the LEGO Group revealed a set of seven mystery minifigures that will be spread across LEGO NINJAGO Legacy sets coming out in 2026. While much of the focus has been on the subject of these mystery minifigures, there's something else in the reveal that will be important to LEGO animal enthusiasts.
The two end elements of the minifigures' display stand are adorned with decorations to resemble the top of a torii, the likes of which are common throughout NINJAGO. These end pieces are capped off with two LEGO frogs each, now in a brand-new colour for the animal.
The LEGO frog has proven to be one of the most versatile pieces in the full portfolio, used for decoration in all kinds of circumstances, not just where you would expect a frog to appear. They've now been used to help shape the tips of the display stand for NINJAGO's 15th anniversary and, as such will be making their long-awaited debut in black.
LEGO frogs currently exist in 16 colours, and some fans have been collecting the catalogue of amphibians. We now know that they'll have to seek out at least one new colour of frog in 2026. LEGO frogs first appeared in 2000, and black has been used for elements since 1961. After 25 years of waiting, LEGO frogs will be embracing the colour next year, and they will be perfect for detailing on buildings and vehicles.
The frogs may not be the most interesting part of the LEGO NINJAGO 15th-anniversary minifigures, but it's something else to look forward to from the theme next year. We'll let you know as soon as more details for the anniversary are confirmed.
