LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71037 Series 24 listed for January 2023

The next LEGO Collectible Minifigures launch will reportedly be another in-house series, following next month’s debut of 71034 Series 23.

Price comparison site brickmerge has published a listing for 71037 Series 24, which currently has a release date of January 2023. That falls perfectly in line with the LEGO Group’s timeline for Collectible Minifigures series, so news of a new batch arriving next year isn’t going to blow anybody’s socks off. What’s more interesting is that we’re going back to another in-house – rather than licensed – series.

Over the past few years, the LEGO Group has established a consistent formula for its blind-bagged minifigures: an original series in January, followed by licensed series in May and September. That all changed this year with 71034 Series 23, which has filled the slot typically taken by a second licensed series (following January’s 71032 Series 22 and May’s 71033 The Muppets).

That decision was presumably made to tie 71034 Series 23 (however loosely) to the company’s 90th anniversary, but the question remains: is it a one-off, and 2023 will bring us two licensed series once again, or are we looking at a permanent shift to two in-house series per year? A single listing for 71037 Series 24 doesn’t give us much insight, but does at least tell us that 2023 will kick off in familiar fashion.

While brickmerge is generally reliable, the existence of 71037 Series 24 should still not be treated as gospel until we get confirmation from the LEGO Group.
