Rumoured LEGO Marvel busts may represent a change in ideals for 18+ sets

Recent rumours point to future LEGO Marvel busts shaking up what’s possible with such brick-built releases, by potentially adding minifigures into the mix.

We already have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the LEGO Marvel theme in 2025, if the most recent rumours are anything to go by. In addition to various playsets, vehicles and comic book locations, three potential models may be changing fans' expectations of what’s possible with specific 18+ sets.

76326 Iron Spider-Man Bust, 75327 Iron Man Mk. 6 Helmet and 76329 Miles Morales Mask are all said to be on the way in the months to come and we’ve already had similar versions of builds based on at least some iterations of those characters to date.

However, this year’s range of rumoured LEGO Marvel busts may well be trying something new, thanks to the apparent addition of a minifigure with each set. Previously, such display builds only offered up a character’s head/helmet or, in the case of 76215 Black Panther, a full bust complete with clawed hands.

Yet the potential decision to include a minifigure as an extra incentive in such 18+ LEGO sets could have far reaching possibilities. For instance, LEGO DC models could easily follow suit, offering collectors a better reason to pick up builds based on more superhero masks, instead of yet another Batmobile.

Likewise, the lukewarm reception to 76215 Black Panther could have been much less of a bitter pill for fans to swallow if an exclusive (or indeed any) minifigure had been included with the LEGO Marvel set. Not by much mind you, but it might have made some difference to fans’ reactions to the 2022 model.

The concept would seem to have some recent precedence too, with 76313 Marvel Logo including five such minifigures, suggesting that the roll-out of similar sets is at least doable. It is worth noting that the rumoured 75407 Star Wars logo won’t come with a selection of minifigures though, potentially muddying the waters regarding what is possible with each theme, although the existence of the model has yet to be confirmed.

It's also hypothetical that the LEGO Group might be hedging its bets by offering up a split strategy when it comes to these kinds of 18+ sets, one that delivers some busts with minifigures to one target audience and some without, instead of the previous blanket approach to such releases.

Whatever the case, we’ll be keeping an eye on future LEGO Marvel builds to see if they set a precedent for the inclusion of minifigures with similar future launches and beyond.
