Another character has been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday in the first teaser trailer for the film, and it's one that LEGO Marvel can benefit from.
Anyone watching the most recent Avatar movie recently might have noticed a teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday playing before the film, and the first of these teasers has now been shared online for all to see. Spoilers will follow for the short teaser trailer.
The teaser revolves around a singular character, adding on to the dozens confirmed in the last announcement for the 2026 movie. We now know that Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, will return in Doomsday following his happy ending at the end of Endgame.
Steve Rogers' Captain America has remained one of Marvel's core characters in both the movies and merchandise. Despite this central role, he has been in a Marvel movie since 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and the title has since been passed to Sam Wilson, star of Brave New World from earlier this year.
Despite this, Steve Rogers' Captain America appeared in more LEGO Marvel sets since 2019 than Sam Wilson's Captain America, mostly relying on flashback builds since the character was phased out of the cinematic universe. The news that Steve Rogers will be back for Doomsday on December 18, 2026, presents an opportunity for the LEGO Marvel team to build on the popularity of this character, especially if there are any Avengers: Doomsday-specific sets planned.
LEGO Marvel's current slate of confirmed and rumoured 2026 sets doesn't have anything for Doomsday, but since the film is scheduled to release so late in the year, we might be looking at a winter 2026 or 2027 wave for the movie.
