LEGO Ideas trembles before the King of the Monsters

A fan-made version of Godzilla has stomped its way into the third LEGO Ideas review of 2024, thanks to a mighty 10,000 supporters.

We’ve already seen 16 brick-built fan creations make it into the third LEGO Ideas review of 2024, covering a variety of topics and familiar licensed characters. Everything from Gravity Falls and Howl’s Moving Castle to more realistic settings such as a sawmill and Italian villa have all managed to drum up 10,000 supporters each.

Now they’re joined by a true titan of a design in the shape of LEGO Godzilla, a monster-sized homage to Toho’s legendary beast. Created by MattE720 and a reworking of a previous build from 2021, the LEGO Ideas submission has been slowly stomping its way into the third review of 2024 and has just smashed across the 10K line.

The design of LEGO Godzilla is described as being based on the atomic-powered kaiju’s appearances in more recent films such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Reflecting the scaly look of its onscreen counterpart, the predominantly grey LEGO Godzilla boasts a spikey back spine, long articulated tail, poseable arms and a mouth that can be opened and closed. In addition, a blast of atomic fire can be attached to the creature’s open maw to simulate one of the behemoth's signature special abilities.

We’ll have to wait and see just how well LEGO Godzilla performs in the months to come as the third LEGO Ideas review of 2024 continues to fill out with inspired fan-made models.
