LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress has a big upgrade – it’s modular

When compared to the original LEGO Pirate build it's based on, 10320 Eldorado Fortress has one big upgrade over its namesake – it’s modular.

The LEGO Group today announced the return of a classic set, albeit in an upgraded form. 10320 Eldorado Fortress will be released on July 7 as part of the LEGO Icons theme, with the 2,509-piece build priced at £189.99 / $214.99 / €214.99.

The upcoming 18+ model is based on a fondly-remembered set from yesteryear, 6276 Eldorado Fortress, which launched in 1989. Despite sharing the same name, the new build differs from the original in a number of ways, from roughly five times the piece count, a brick-built base instead of a moulded one and much more detail packed into the Pirate-themed playset.

In addition, 10320 Eldorado Fortress also has one big upgrade over 6276 Eldorado Fortress and that’s the fact that it’s modular. When fully opened up, the LEGO Icons set measures over 27cm in height, 70cm wide and 24cm deep, and features various separate sections to construct, all of which can be combined and reconfigured for maximum display potential.

The modular builds include a guard tower with working crane, an admiral’s office, a dungeon, a lookout with cannon and more, with sneaky secrets to be discovered throughout. The option to set up 10320 Eldorado Fortress however you like, then reposition the model for alternate configurations, should be a welcome addition to what could be as impressive a modern recreation of a classic build as last year’s 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle.

LEGO Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress will launch on July 7 and retail for £189.99 / $214.99 / €214.99.
