LEGO 40507 I Love Billund makes a baby minifigure first, debuting a new (and adorable) version of the smallest minifigures out there.
40507 I Love Billund features a number of miniaturised versions of Billund landmarks from the home of the brick, including a tiny version of the huge minifigure that many a visitor to the Home of the Brick will have taken a picture with since it took up its post back in 2022.
To represent that huge statue at this scale, LEGO Designer Maria explained in a presentation to LEGO Fan Media that a whole new variation on the baby minifigure element was devised.
"[In 40507 I Love Billund, you can see[ the massive minifigure greeting us, which I'm sure that anyone who's come to visit the Billund has taken a selfie with, either holding the hand of the minifigure or just a picture with it," Maria said. "I'm so happy that we could include it as a baby minifigure. It's the first baby minifigure with pants, and so it's a really nice special deco for you to get in the set."
Any previous baby minifigures, like those we've seen in LEGO Space and City sets, have been all one colour. This time, the minifigure is meant to be in the classic red and blue minifigure colours, requiring a brand new look. You can see him if you look closely at the right-hand side of the picture below.
"Until now, the baby minifigure was decorated, but it was only used for astronauts and was always one colour," added Maria. "We finally got the equipment to give the baby pants, so it's a special deco, and now it's the only two-coloured baby that there is. I don't know if future sets will take the opportunity of this wonderful new equipment and have more babies in pants, but it's the only one so far."
LEGO 40507 I Love Billund will be available at the LEGO House Retail Store in Billund from March 1, retailing at 749 DKK For a limited time, the set will also be available to buy at LEGOLAND Billund from March 28.
