LEGO 72046 Game Boy may be the perfect creative canvas

LEGO 72046 Game Boy may be the perfect creative canvas

When it comes to sheer creativity, 72046 Game Boy looks like it might just be the perfect example of what’s possible with a LEGO set.

The LEGO Group officially revealed 72046 Game Boy at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with the 421-piece set faithfully recreating the iconic Nintendo handheld video game console of yesteryear in brick-built form.

Featuring a combination of stickered parts, new printed pieces and a selection of three lenticular screens, 72046 Game Boy looks like it might be a near-perfect set. All of those elements come together to create a near 1:1 scale version of the humble Game Boy, showcasing just what’s possible when it comes to the LEGO format.

Taking a look at images of 72046 Game Boy also hints at plenty of possible customisation potential for those creative types within the LEGO community, with a working version of the original console surely just begging to be built using the upcoming set.

Those topics are the exact same subjects covered in our latest YouTube video below, with Matthew taking a dive into Nintendo history, revealing how the Game Boy and some of its many smash hit titles came to be.

72046 Game Boy will launch on October 1, 2025, priced at £54.99 in the UK, $59.99 in the US and €59.99 in Europe, with pre-orders for the LEGO Super Mario model open right now.
