LEGO Fortnite’s new The Simpsons season includes one very significant new LEGO character skin that potentially opens a door for the physical subtheme in 2026 and beyond.
The denizens of Springfield returned to LEGO Store shelves earlier this summer under the LEGO Icons banner with
Notable exceptions include Principal Skinner, Superintendent Chalmers, Officer Eddie, Lenny and Carl, the rest of the Flanders clan and – perhaps the biggest omission of all – Moe Szyslak. And for a while, most of us just assumed that Moe was off the table because he’s a bartender, and we’d never get Moe’s Tavern as a set because… well, it would be a LEGO set of a bar, which is not what you’d call a kid-friendly space.

And yet: Moe Szyslak now has an official LEGO minifigure design thanks to Fortnite. Outside of the official LEGO Fortnite theme, none of the in-game skins have paved the way for physical LEGO minifigures, but this is an especially interesting case because every other LEGO The Simpsons Fortnite skin corresponds to an official and physically-available LEGO minifigure. Moe is the one and only exception (at the time of writing).
As prompted by Ashnflash and just2good over on YouTube, the question now is… does this open the door to a LEGO Moe’s Tavern set in 2026 (or later?). Most of the licensed LEGO Icons sets released to date have not been one-offs – we’ve had several The Lord of the Rings and Transformers sets, for example – so there’s a fair chance that we’ll get more LEGO The Simpsons sets in future, particularly if the LEGO Group wants to make the most of bringing back the moulded heads.

And while there are other options for the next Springfield location to turn into bricks, such as the Elementary School, Android’s Dungeon or the Nuclear Power Plant, Moe’s Tavern would be an easy way to tick off a few other key missing characters (Moe, Lenny, Carl and even Barney) with another set in the same relative size and scale as Krusty Burger.
There are a couple of other factors worth considering here, too. First, Moe was once rumoured to be included in the original LEGO Simpsons Collectible Minifigures series before reportedly being replaced by Ralph Wiggum. (How much stock you put in that claim, which is referenced on Brickipedia, is up to you.) Second, the LEGO Group seems to have relaxed its internal policy on representing alcohol (if one existed at all), as we’ve had several instances of both historic and present-day bars and pubs in recent years.
Chief among those is this year’s modular building, 10350 Tudor Corner, which includes a traditional British pub on the ground floor. There’s also a bar in the dining carriage of 21344 The Orient Express Train; a couple of magical pubs in the Harry Potter theme thanks to the Three Broomsticks; and a keg with free-flowing yellow liquid in 76200 Bro Thor’s New Asgard.
Regardless of what comes next for LEGO The Simpsons, it’s cool to see what a physical Moe minifigure might look like should that reality ever come to pass. And it would be long overdue: Moe is consistently ranked among the supporting characters with the most screen time, up there with Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders and Krusty the Clown – all of whom already have official LEGO minifigures.
