The LEGO Group has confirmed precise production numbers for its first Pokémon gift-with-purchase, as pre-orders begin to sell out – and aftermarket prices spiral.
40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection is free with all purchases of

You’ve still got a little time to snap it up in a handful of European countries, including Germany, Italy and Poland – all of which share allocation from a single distribution centre in Czechia. But chances are it won’t last long, because supplies are limited… and even more so of the gift-with-purchase. In another rare move, the LEGO Group has shared production numbers for 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection in its terms and conditions.

Only 8,500 copies were available across the UK and neighbouring regions (including France, Spain and the Netherlands), for instance, while the US and Canada had 38,740 copies of the GWP up for grabs. Australia and New Zealand had just 960 copies to share between them – and now that all of those territories have seemingly sold out of their allocations, we can assume that at least 48,200 copies of 72153 Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise have been pre-ordered worldwide.
The final number will likely be greater still, as the allocation for the remaining European countries with stock is a collective 6,170 units. Check out the table below for the full breakdown of 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection supplies by region.
| Region | GWP allocation |
|---|---|
| UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Denmark (and more) | 8,500 |
| Germany, Italy, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary (and more) | 6,170 |
| US | 21,840 |
| Canada | 16,900 |
| Australia and New Zealand | 960 |
| Mexico | 190 |

With those production numbers in mind, it feels unlikely that 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection will be available in LEGO Stores when
Over on eBay, you’re looking at parting with roughly £150 for the badge collection alone, with several copies having already sold for anywhere between £136 and £162. Some chancers are also trying to sell on their pre-ordered copy of

There’s nothing to say right now that
It’s not terribly surprising to see so many people trying to take advantage of the hype around LEGO Pokémon’s launch wave, given Pokémon has its own issue with scalpers and LEGO as a brand is no stranger to them, either. It was almost guaranteed that when those worlds collided this year things would escalate – and we're seeing the proof of that from practically day one.
If you’re happy to just get a smaller taste of LEGO Pokémon’s first wave, set your sights on 72151 Eevee or 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball, both of which are still available to pre-order in most regions. A wider range of playsets is expected to debut later this year – check out the latest info in the table below.
