LEGO Christmas 2025 set collection review

From a large buildable Santa Claus minifigure to a LEGO Star Wars Gingerbread AT-AT, the LEGO Christmas range for 2025 is an eclectic mix.

It’s the end of September so we are well and truly into the festive period as shops everywhere start completely ignoring Halloween and autumn in favour of going straight to Christmas. Not wanting to be left behind for this festive celebration, the LEGO Group has already revealed a selection of Christmas-themed LEGO sets for 2025 and there are a couple of gems here, all due for release on October 1.

These sorts of builds can be found in and around the LEGO store at this time of year pretty easily, but shouldn’t necessarily be overlooked – they are fun decorations to build and are great for anyone with a love of LEGO wanting to reflect as much in their Christmas tree. You may not be in the mood for LEGO tree decorations at this stage of your LEGO life right now, but just make sure you pick these up before they are gone, because one day you’ll realise you can’t get LEGO Christmas decorations anywhere else and these ones will look just great next to all those fancy glass ones…

40812 Snowman Ornaments are fairly priced and nicely designed – if you ever intend to collect LEGO Christmas decorations this is a great pair to start with.

40809 Festive Gingerbread House is possibly the weakest release of the 2025 Christmas range, almost purely for the fact there’s an AT-AT in Gingerbread Town now and that takes all the novelty points.

Even so, not everyone celebrating Christmas is a Star Wars fan, and for those folks 40809 offers up a two-floor shop of sorts, with plenty going on across the outside decorations, and a little less to see on the inside. The house closes up to be self-contained or can open completely flat for better display, which is a clever consideration to include and one that does give the set a little more value. Value, though, is otherwise not here, because this is admittedly a pretty pricey set for what it is.

One of the sleeper hits of recent years for the LEGO Group has surely been the series of up-scaled minifigures released. Starting with two Harry Potter characters and the LEGO House-exclusive Captain Redbeard, this collection has a regular minifigure and a racing driver to its name and can now welcome this Christmas 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure. Built in the same exact way albeit with specialist design for his beard and hat, this Santa is just as excellently designed, poseable and fun to build and play with as any of the others.

40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure may seem like a pricier LEGO Christmas set, but he looks great, is a solid build and comes in at a good size. This is the sort of build you’ll be taking out for display over the festive period for a good few years to come.

A few years into Hasbro’s excellent run of Christmas-themed Black Series figures, the LEGO Group has entered festive Star Wars territory and looks set to dominate should 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker be a sign of things to come. Now, in a year where scaled-down sets have been hit or miss for the theme, 40806 perfectly captures the details and likeness of the massive AT-AT at a size perfectly appropriate for such a novelty set as this.

Recolouring this smaller walker into dark orange with white lining and multi-coloured decorations perfectly transforms it into gingerbread form, whilst the little fireplace scene for the included Gingerbread Darth Vader to settle down in front of on the inside is inspired, if not a little insensitive to the Sith Lord’s backstory – just don’t go too near the flames and you’ll be fine, Lord Gingerbread Vader.

In a lot of ways, 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker is a standout set for the Christmas period and should prove very popular, even at a price that is too high – don’t point to that piece count as any justification as there are many small pieces that artificially inflate that number.

Price aside, well… we can say price aside because for the sheer novelty of this LEGO Star Wars set and for how well done it is, most LSW fans will be making a beeline to this come October 1 and ensuring every Christmas display from this year on will feature a Gingerbread Hoth.

Our honest opinion: 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker and 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure are pricier, larger festive sets than we are perhaps accustomed to, but if the quality and novelty of their design is a sign of things to come then we’re very much here for it. Christmas comes early this year.
