LEGO Chinese Traditional Festivals 2025 sets rumoured

Rumoured product names and numbers for next year’s LEGO Chinese Traditional Festivals sets have surfaced online.

A staple of the holiday release window for a number of years now, the Chinese Traditional Festivals theme celebrates the Lunar New Year with a pair of annual releases. Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat reports that this year’s 80112 Auspicious Dragon and 80113 Family Reunion Celebration will be followed by 80116 Trotting Lantern and 80117 Good Fortune in 2025.

Their source is brickmerge, a price comparison site that is not necessarily a reliable source all on its own, but its republication by lego_minecraft_goat gives it a little more weight. It’s still best to take all rumoured sets with a grain of salt until officially confirmed by the LEGO Group, though there are of course few safer bets in the LEGO calendar at this point than new Lunar New Year releases.

80116 Trotting Lantern is said to consist of 1,295 pieces, while 80117 Good Fortune will reportedly include 1,021 pieces. Further details are few and far between at this point, but 80116 Trotting Lantern could perhaps be a depiction of a traditional Chinese revolving lamp, also known as a trotting horse lamp. These lanterns give the impression that the images on them are moving when lit.

80117 Good Fortune is a little trickier to pin down given how generic that name is, but odds are that if 80116 Trotting Lantern is a buildable object, its contemporary will be hooked to minifigures (following the pattern of 2023 and 2024’s sets). Exactly when these sets will launch is another matter altogether: the Chinese New Year LEGO sets typically debut January 1 in most regions, but have been known to arrive in late December in some places.

Rumoured details on 2024’s Lunar New Year sets originally dropped a year ago today, ahead of a full reveal at China International Import Expo on November 6. This year’s CIIE will take place from November 5 to 10, with a full reveal of these sets very likely on the cards there, so keep an eye on Brick Fanatics next week for a potential first look at the LEGO Chinese Traditional Festivals 2025 sets.
