The newly-revealed LEGO Botanicals 2026 sets will debut a brand new colour for the LEGO Group – one that the design team says has been ‘missing for ages’.
Nestled among the lavender blooms in 11508 Daisies – the smallest LEGO Botanicals set revealed for 2026 so far – are three different shades of pink and purple, and eagle-eyed fans may have already noticed that one of those hues appears to be new. The design team behind the latest buildable blooms confirmed at this year’s Fan Media Days event that it is indeed a new colour, which the company is internally calling ‘blue violet’.

“We have a dedicated colour team,” LEGO designer Theo Bonner tells Brick Fanatics. “They’re doing a tonne of exploration into trends and what makes sense, and also looking at our colour palette, trying to find missing gaps. In this case, blue violet was something we’d been missing for ages. If you look at a colour wheel, it's one of the really obvious gaps in the colours we offer.”
2024 marked the introduction of reddish orange to the LEGO colour palette, which as a much more vibrant shade sits in stark contrast to the muted blue violet. And while we’ve mostly seen reddish orange implemented as a bold dominant colour across City and Technic sets, Theo says blue violet will open up the opportunity for more ‘gradients’ across the LEGO portfolio and particularly within Botanicals, where ‘subtle colours work really well’.

“It fits perfectly for Botanicals because we are always looking for the colours that you can also find in real life,” adds fellow LEGO designer Lami Phan. “We don’t have everything, but as much as we can, we want to integrate them and make them shiny and beautiful.”
While blue violet has yet to show up in any other LEGO sets revealed for 2026 so far – check all those out here – we can expect to see it used more widely beyond just the Botanicals range.
“Every time a new colour is introduced, designers get super excited,” Theo says. “So I do know that there’s a lot coming. I don’t know if we’re the ones who are kicking it off, but we’re definitely part of the first wave and a lot of really nice colour changes are coming… I think sometimes designers will start to make decisions if they hear colours coming early on that will influence the design of things.

“They’re like, ‘Oh, this would be so cool if this, I don’t know, ice cream shop was this colour scheme,’ or something like that. So I think as soon as we know that colours are on the way, people start to adjust designs to make room for them, and then you end up getting a lot more colour changes.”
Look out for more blue violet pieces in 2026 LEGO sets, but for now, you’ll be able to get a first taste of this new hue in 11508 Daisies on January 1.
