More details regarding difficulty settings for combat in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight have emerged at Gamescom 2025.
This year’s Gamescom show is currently in full effect, with visitors to the annual event in Cologne able to check out numerous new video games on display. That includes a playable demo of the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, scheduled to be released sometime in 2026.
An official launch trailer for the TT Games title dropped on opening night, giving eager fans a first look at footage from LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. In addition, those on the show floor have also been able to get some hands-on time with the game and its new difficulty options.

For the first time in a TT Games LEGO title, players will be able to choose just how tough they want their experience to be. One image posted by Nexus Point News on X (formerly Twitter) reveals how that system will work and just what fans can expect when the game is released next year.
First up is Classic mode, which includes a more traditional difficulty setting for fans of all ages. That means unlimited lives, fewer enemies to tackle and advanced enemy types will appear less frequently.
Then there’s the Caped Crusader option, a slightly tougher challenge that ups the stakes with a more balanced focus on combat and story, one that still offers unlimited lives, but with more enemies and advanced enemy types appearing more often.

Finally, there's the Dark Knight mode, which plunges experienced players into a much more intense experience, with harder combat, a limited number of lives, even more enemies and tougher boss battles to survive.
Gamers will be able to try out all of the new combat difficulty settings for themselves when LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 system, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2026. Players who sign up for a WB Games account right now can grab a free Golden Age Batsuit inspired by Detective Comics #27.
