Players will be able to upgrade their character's gadgets and skills in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and here’s how to do just that.
The launch of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is now less than a month away, at least for those who will receive early access on May 19 if they purchase the Deluxe Edition of the video game that is. Players who are looking to put plenty of hours into the TT Games titles will soon discover they’ll be able to boost their chosen character’s gadgets and skills, thanks to a handy upgrade system.
As revealed in a recent developer diary video, gamers can employ different methods to do just that, both of which take place in the customisable Batcave. Heading to the workbench in the Caped Crusader’s lair brings up a menu for enhancing gadgets and skills via two separate progression trees.
The first, on the left, focuses on gadgets, which can be added to and modified, although you’ll need to have scoured the streets of Gotham City for hidden Waynetech chips in order to do so. Those upgrades can take a humble Batarang from a simple throwing weapon to a Sonic Batarang, Batarang Combo, Concussive Batarang and beyond.
What’s more, it’s not just Bruce Wayne’s alter ego who will benefit from upgrades, as the rest of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s playable cast can also receive improved gadgets, such as Commissioner Gordon’s handy Goop Trail.
The right-hand workbench menu is the place to enhance a character’s skills, by purchasing them with Waynetech chips too, which can take a player’s combat and traversal abilities to the next level. For instance, Catwoman’s Distract skill allows the feline villain to employ multiple cats to bamboozle enemies, allowing Selina Kyle to sneak past unnoticed and unharmed.
Additional skills include the likes of the vehicle upgrade ejection system, glide takedown and glide bomb, as well as enhancing various aspects of stealth, combat and puzzle-solving in the game.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 22 and can be wishlisted on Switch 2 for release later in 2026.
