LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight dev diary dives deep

The epic scale of the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight game has been revealed in an all-new developer diary video.

Players will be able to get their hands on LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in just over one months’ time, at least if you’re picking up the feature-packed Deluxe Edition of the game that is. In advance of that date, TT Games and Warner Bros. Games have released an all-new developer diary video, one that reveals just how truly massive the upcoming title will be.

The latest footage of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is narrated by Jonathan Smith, Strategic Director & Head of Development Team at TT Games and kicks off with a deep dive into the Batcave, which has humble origins but can then be excavated, expanded and eventually filled with numerous Batsuits, Batmobiles, trophies, games, furnishings, equipment and more.

The Batcave is also the place to check out the Caped Crusader’s extensive crime files and keep track of collectibles and Waynetech chips hidden around Gotham City by using the Batcomputer.

In addition, the Batcave’s workbench allows players to upgrade their gadgets and skills by using those same chips to unlock new abilities. Those enhanced devices include a concussive Batarang and souped-up Batclaw and allies’ gadgets and skills can also be upgraded too.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Batcave also features a handy hot tub for relaxing after saving the day, fun rides, a LEGO Batman pinball machine and even a LEGO LEGO Batman the Video Game Video Game (yes, you read that right).

When it comes to Batsuits, the Dark Knight’s lair is full of them, with the new video revealing first looks at many new outfits including Absolute Batman complete with spikey shoulder piece and Zero Year, with its distinctive purple highlights and even Bruce Wayne's boyhood idol, the Gray Ghost.

Finally, we’ve already seen quite a few of the Batmobiles included in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, but if the new developer diary video is anything to go by, there are many more to discover in the subterranean garage.

Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot such previously-unseen rides as the Batman Beyond Batmobile, with many of the vehicles in the game boasting weapons and the ability to drift around corners.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 22 and can be wishlisted on Switch 2 for release later in 2026. In addition, early adopters of the Deluxe Edition will also be able to access to the game a whole three days earlier on May 19.
