A free tie-in comic book for the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight video game was recently confirmed, with the promotional publication due to arrive early next month. Details of exactly what will be included in the title have also now emerged, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the LEGO DC title.
The LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight tie-in comic book arrives on May 2, 2026, otherwise known as Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), with copies available at participating stores.

According to Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC and the LEGO Group, the free comic book will include a story entitled ‘The LEGO Batman Returns,’ which follows a day in the life of LEGO Batman as he comes back to Gotham City after a long hiatus.
Upon his return, LEGO Batman encounters a variety of familiar DC characters, paying homage to the Dark Knight’s 70-plus year history in media, with numerous nods to previous films, television shows and comic books.
In addition, the first panel of the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight comic book will act as a callback to Detective Comics # 27 from March 30, 1939, depicting the iconic image of the Caped Crusader swinging over the Gotham City skyline.

'The LEGO Batman Returns' is written by Ivan Cohen (Beware the Batman), with art by Paul Lee (Batman: Under the Hood), can be picked up for free from comic book stores on May 2 and will also be available for free digitally via the DC UNIVERSE INFINITE app on the same day.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 22 and can be wishlisted on Switch 2 for release later in 2026. In addition, early adopters of the Deluxe Edition will also be able to access to the game a whole three days earlier on May 19.
