LEGO Architecture may finally fulfil the community's desires

The latest rumoured LEGO Architecture set would be a long time coming for many in the community, finally fulfilling one of their greatest desires.

Rumour has it – via Clay_Bricks – that LEGO Architecture will be expanding with Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle in a 3,455-piece model this August. While this remains a rumour and is to be taken with caution until anything is confirmed, such a set is something the community has been calling out for over the past five years.

That's over a quarter of LEGO Architecture's lifespan and fans have been designing microscale versions of the whimsical mountain landmark to prove that the castle is ideal for a microscale model.

From LEGO Ideas to Rebrickable, it's clear to see that Neuschwanstein Castle needs a miniature model, but it doesn't need to be too small. DBricks238's build uses over 2,000 elements, which is over halfway to the rumoured piece count of 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle. That leaves plenty of room to up the scale, expand on the surroundings and add more detail – all on a stylish black base.

This rumour might not be welcome news for everyone – including Tobnac – whose LEGO Ideas project currently sits halfway to 10,000 supporters but may not be eligible for a LEGO set should this rumour be accurate. Still, at least they'd have their desire fulfilled, even when they'd have to buy it themselves.

Beyond the fan-designed creations, there's an official LEGO set which might offer a good idea of what to expect from the rumoured 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle. 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds has 2,660 pieces with a similarly mountainous landscape and whimsical design. It's still smaller than the Architecture set is reported to be though.

With some caution at our side, we'll have to see what comes of the rumoured 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle this August, if the rumour is even accurate. For now, 21062 Trevi Fountain is nearly here to satisfy Architecture fans in the meantime.
