LEGO Animal Crossing has broken the internet

LEGO Animal Crossing is officially on its way – and, safe to say, fans of both are incredibly excited.

The X post from Nintendo that announced the collaboration between the LEGO Group and Animal Crossing had reached over 11.5 million views at the time of writing, whereas other posts on the same account rarely exceed one million. Clearly, the hype is very much there.

Looking at some of the public's reactions to the announcement revealed, predictably, a lot of pure excitement.

However, with so many other properties that also exist under the Nintendo banner, it's hard not to draw parallels between, say, LEGO Animal Crossing and Super Mario.

As well as start begging for other LEGO x Nintendo collabs...

We don't yet know exactly what the LEGO Animal Crossing sets will be, but some fans already have some strong opinions about what should be on the way.

There's also some trepidation around cost...

...but at least we know someone who's sure to grant us a handy loan to make sure Animal Crossing fans get all the sets they could possibly want – in return for eternal servitude, of course.

Speaking of troublesome animal characters, there's one face that hasn't appeared as a minifigure: smug cat Raymond. Considering that his digital version has become one of the most hotly-traded items in Animal Crossing, perhaps the LEGO Group intends to just stay out of the bidding wars that would surely erupt over a minifigure version of Raymond.

Of course, it's impossible for anything to happen on the internet without it somehow relating back to one of its most avid fandoms: K-pop fans. People are already getting excited for ATEEZ vocalist Seonghwa, a fan of both LEGO and Animal Crossing, and his reaction to the upcoming theme.

The LEGO Animal Crossing theme is expected to launch next year, although there's no confirmed release window or even any specific sets that have been revealed at the time of writing.
