LEGO Jurassic World 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex review

One of two new LEGO Jurassic World sets due to arrive in early 2025, is 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex a model with plenty of prehistoric bite?

The LEGO Jurassic World theme continues to plod along every year, with multiple annual releases to keep fans engaged. Every now and again we’ll get a set that attempts to do something new with the long-running licensed property, such as 76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull, but most of the models tend to consist of some sort of vehicle with minifigures and a moulded dinosaur or two.

Then there’s 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex, a a baby dino build spinning out of the Jurassic World: Chaos Theory animated series, now in its second season. The show continues where Camp Cretaceous left off, with a number of returning characters, creatures and plot lines. However, Little Eatie has yet to appear in Chaos Theory, despite the packaging for this LEGO Jurassic World set featuring the logo for the latest series.

Release: January 1, 2025 Price: £19.99 / $24.99 / €24.99 Pieces: 317 Minifigures: LEGOOrder now

Tooth and claw

76967 Little Eatie: T. rex follows in the dino footsteps of this year’s 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus, offering up a cute version of the animated character. Unfortunately, that means fans of the show aren’t getting a brick-built recreation of Little Eatie as she appeared in Camp Cretaceous, but instead we’re offered a scaled down version of the beast, complete with large, printed eyes, in an attempt to soften her vicious demeanour.

The LEGO Jurassic World model is sturdy enough, being primarily constructed from a selection of dark orange, regular orange and dark tan elements, with two solid legs and clawed feet providing stability. Little Eatie’s lower limbs can be moved back and forth, but she’ll only stand up in one specific pose.

Moving up 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex's body reveals two tiny forearms with claws that offer some limited movement, along with a posable tail and an oversized head. The dino’s chomping jaw is open by default, with a press of the button on the top of its head closing its tooth-filled maw.

Prehistoric play

76967 Little Eatie: T. rex comes with a couple of play accessories, one being a small rock pile build and the other a steak chop. The latter can be placed in the former to provide a tasty treat for the dinosaur, mimicking the feeding methods seen in the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous show.

The steak can also be placed in Little Eatie’s mouth for her to chomp on, but can drop out easily if the button on the dino’s head isn’t kept pressed down. Beyond that, there’s minimal display or play value in the set, although the LEGO Jurassic World model is likely to appeal to younger builders.

76967 Little Eatie: T. rex does sit well when placed next to 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus though, so if the latest LEGO Jurassic World set proves to be a success, we can probably expect to see more similar cute dinosaur releases down the road as a potential subtheme all to itself.

A LEGO Creator set in all but name

Ultimately, the appeal of 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex comes down to whether or not you’re a fan of the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous show. Even if you are, the LEGO Jurassic World model fails to capture the look of the creature and instead offers up a more stylised look for the character.

The dino build would have worked much better as a LEGO Creator set, as evidenced by this year’s 31151 T. rex. That model delivers a trio of prehistoric pets for nearly twice the price of 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex, but for that amount you're getting much more accurate versions of familiar dinosaurs to assemble.

While younger fans of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous may be happy enough to receive 76967 Little Eatie: T. rex as a fun gift, the basic play potential on offer is unlikely to keep them entertained for very long.
